As the 'Year of Sustainability' concludes, the UAE bids farewell to 2023 with remarkable achievements. Key highlights include the historic 'UAE Consensus' on climate change at COP28, the launch of the $30 billion ALTÉRRA investment vehicle, and significant milestones such as the expansion of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and the inauguration of the Al Dhafra Solar PV facility. Notably, the UAE also unveiled its ambitious UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy. The UAE exhibited remarkable humanitarian efforts through various initiatives. These included the launch of Operation 'Gallant Knight 2' and the 'Bridges of Giving' campaign to provide aid and support to the people of Turkey and Syria affected by an earthquake. Additionally, 'Gallant Knight 3' was launched to assist the Palestinian people in Gaza, establishing a field hospital, desalination plants, and hosting Palestinian cancer patients and children requiring medical care in UAE hospitals. The 'Tarahum - for Gaza' campaign aimed to provide relief aid, and the UAE contributed $20 million to UNRWA for Palestine Refugees. The UAE extended vital aid and SAR teams to assist those affected by Storm Daniel in Libya and provided humanitarian support to Moroccan earthquake victims. Significant legislative milestones were achieved, including the issuance of the UAE Sports Law, Federal Laws on Mental Health, the establishment of the National Media Office, UAE Accountability Authority, UAE Media Council, and the regulation of media through Federal Decree-Laws. Furthermore, a Federal Decree-Law on the Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues was enacted.
