The current Google Health Vice President, David Feinberg, is set to become the next CEO and president of electronic health records company Cerner in October. Health Tech Company Cerner David Feinberg has led Google’s health care initiatives since 2018 in a role that was created when he was hired. His departure from Google has opened up speculation that the search giant may be reassessing its goal to create new products in its Google Health division to break into the health technology market. During his time at Google, one of Feinberg’s projects was the partnership with Apple to create covid-19 tracing software. The apps built on the system are widely available, though it has unfortunately not been a major factor in tracking covid-19 outbreaks. In June, Feinberg spoke about another major focus for the company, Care Studio, which is a partnership with Ascension about organising the electronic health records of patients. Feinberg is a qualified doctor and holds an MBA. Prior to his time at Google, he led health care provider Geisinger and also stood as CEO of UCLA’s hospitals. Feinberg will take over the role of CEO from Brent Shafer, who joined the company in January 2018.
